Attendance and Safe Arrival
Regular attendance is important for student success. If your child will be absent or arriving late, please report the absence through SchoolMessenger before the start of the school day. Timely reporting helps us ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
Late Arrivals
Students arriving after 9:30 a.m. must report to the main office to sign in before proceeding to class.
Early Pick-Ups
If you need to pick up your child before dismissal, please report the early excusal through SchoolMessenger and report to the main office upon arrival. Students will be called from class once a parent/guardian/caregiver has arrived.
SchoolMessenger
HWDSB uses SchoolMessenger for attendance reporting and school communications. Families can report absences, late arrivals, early excusals, and receive important school updates.
Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures
The safety of our students is our highest priority. To help ensure a safe and orderly arrival and dismissal each day, we ask all parents, guardians, and caregivers to follow school procedures and model safe walking and driving practices for children.
Please support a safe school environment by following these expectations:
- Use designated sidewalks, pathways, and crosswalks at all times.
- Do not walk through or across the bus loading and unloading areas.
- Pedestrian traffic is not permitted in the parking lot or bus lanes.
- Students and families are asked to walk bicycles, scooters, and skateboards while on school property.
- At the end of the school day, all student pick-ups should take place at the designated pick-up area on the back playground.
- If you need to pick up your child during the school day, please use the intercom located at the front entrance to contact the main office. School staff will assist you.
By following these procedures, we can work together to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all students, families, staff, and visitors.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to student safety.
